The USPS and NALC have reached agreements on two MOU’s, M-01985 and M-01986 which can be found in their entirety on the NALC website. Both agreements are geared towards correcting the staffing issues that are plaguing the Post Office across the country. These agreements establish a process for CCA’s to be made PTF’s or regulars effective immediately. They also establish a process where select installations will have an entire career workforce. This is good news for some, and not so great news for others.
Locally, it seems we got the short end of the stick. We could really use the advantage of hiring carriers right into career jobs. This would help in keeping new employees and having a full staff of workers. These MOUs are not the end of this process. There is talk of other installations and other areas being involved with hiring right to career employees.
