Branch 274 has another Hero to congratulate! I’d like to recognize Allentown City Carrier Scott Mortman, who has been a city letter carrier for over 24 years. On Saturday, December 17, 2022, while delivering on his route on Primrose Lane, Scott heard a lady shouting “there’s a fire, HELP!” The lady’s children were outside, and she had locked the door behind her by accident. Scott kicked the door in and ran into the home and extinguished the fire which had been in the kitchen. The smoke was intense, and he quickly exited the home. The flames reignited and Scott returned to the kitchen to extinguish the last of the flames. He o
pened all the windows to let the smoke out. The local fire rescue then arrived. By that time Scott’s fast action helped save the women’s entire home from being engulfed in flames.
Scott’s courage and fast action prevented what could have quickly escalated into a terrible situation. Branch 274 thanks Scott! Hip, Hip, Hooray!
